Job description

Position Summary

The Logistics Coordinator oversees the daily flow of goods through the shipping warehouse to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely distribution of products through the Logistics process.

This role serves as the central point of communication between shipping operations, transportation partners, customer service, customers, and internal teams for issues pertaining to logistics, carriers, claims, and related matters.

The Logistics Coordinator manages and resolves logistical issues to maintain smooth shipping operations. By analyzing workflow, tracking shipments, and maintaining detailed documentation, this role supports operational efficiency, cost control, and high service levels across the supply chain.

This position is also responsible for special projects related to Shipping and Logistics. The role requires intermittent performance of Shipping Specialist duties throughout the day, as well as cross-training others on Coordinator tasks.

Responsibilities & Duties
  • Coordinate proper completion of customs documentation to ensure consistent flow of inbound and outbound material across international borders.
  • Obtain shipping quotes for all shipments departing the Belen site.
  • Monitor movement of international and domestic orders.
  • Maintain full compliance with all applicable regulations throughout the import, export, and transportation process, including valuation, country of origin marking, record retention, labeling, and related requirements.
  • Work with customs brokers to ensure regulatory compliance and minimize duty and brokerage fees.
  • Collaborate with the shipping department on sales order entry issues.
  • Review documentation to confirm classifications and tariffs align with mode of transportation and destination.
  • Investigate shipper, consignee, and customer complaints related to lost, damaged, or short shipments and respond to QNS accordingly.
  • Prepare carrier claims and correspond with shippers or consignees to resolve settlements.
  • Review shipment and backlog reports to ensure compliance with interstate traffic laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Enter freight charges for prepaid, add-and-allowed shipments into SAP and partner with Accounting during month-end close.
  • Research and identify optimal freight rates for inbound and outbound shipments, domestic and international.
  • Trace outgoing shipments for customers upon request.
  • Trace inbound shipments upon request.
  • Audit and approve freight bills for correct classification, discounts, and charges when requested by Accounting.
  • Follow up on all returns to ensure completion, including receipt, QC disposition, repackaging, inventory, or disposal.
  • Communicate in person and by phone with co-workers and external partners as required.
