About the Role
We are a growing company that supplies custom color compounds (concentrates, precolor, and dry color) to the plastics industry. We are looking for an experienced Color Lab Technician to join our lab team as we continue to grow.

This is a hands-on role. You will be working directly on color matching, creating sample chips, developing color formulas, and ensuring consistent, repeatable results for plastic manufacturing.

What You’ll Do

  • Create and adjust color formulations for plastics
  • Match colors, prepare sample chips, and correct off-color batches
  • Work with masterbatches, pigments, additives, and different resins
  • Perform testing, approvals, and quality checks
  • Operate molding machines, roll mills, and lab equipment such as melt flow, specific gravity, and spectrophotometers
  • Maintain accurate lab records, formulas, test results, and quality documentation
  • Support quality control and ISO compliance (e.g., ISO 9001)
  • Calibrate lab equipment
  • Work closely with production and quality teams to solve color issues
  • Keep the lab clean, safe, and organized

What We’re Looking For

  • Excellent color vision
  • At least 3 years of experience in color matching and formulation in plastics (or equivalent education and experience)
  • Ability to perform hands-on color matching and quality adjustments, both manually and using spectrophotometers
  • Strong background or training in color science
  • Experience with color formulation software (such as X-Rite) preferred
  • Knowledge of color theory and color measurement tools
  • Associate’s degree or technical degree preferred
  • Experience with ISO systems (ISO 9001 preferred)
  • Knowledge of resins, pigments, colorants, and additives
  • Basic understanding of plastic processing equipment (extruders, injection molding machines)
  • Strong math, computer, and Microsoft Office skills
