What you will be doing: You'll be responsible for the orderly operation of the center during evenings, weekends and holidays as designated by the center director in compliance with government and management directives.  In addition, security officer duties and provide supervision to staff to protect life and property against theft, misappropriation, fire, flood, or similar disasters on assigned shifts.

Essential Duties:

  1. Act as center director in his/her absence during evenings, weekends and holidays.  
  2. Monitor and maintain effective control through personal observations by making periodic checks of center wide activities as well as facilities, dormitories, cafeteria, etc. and report potential or existent non-resolved problems to the center director.  
  3. Confer with parents, center personnel and counsel students concerning problems relating to student actions on and off center.  
  4. Maintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a work environment.   
  5. Make decisions in emergency situations that are determined to be disrupting the orderly operation of the center.
  6. Ensure the physical security of buildings, center vehicles, and property by checking doors, windows, lights, electrical appliances, equipment, locks, and emergency equipment.
  7. Assure accountability of students, staff, and visitor check-out and check-in proceeding by scheduling guard station coverage.   

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree and three years related experience, two of which must be in a supervisor capacity preferred.  
  • Directly related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements.  
  • Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency required.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
