Archbishop Hannan High School seeks a dedicated, energetic, and mission-driven individual to serve as the Moderator of the Color Guard Program. This position offers an opportunity to work with talented student performers while contributing to the vibrant spirit and traditions of our Catholic school community.

The Color Guard Moderator is responsible for directing and supervising the school's Color Guard program, fostering student growth, promoting school spirit, and supporting the mission of Archbishop Hannan High School through excellence in performance, teamwork, and leadership.

Responsibilities

The Color guard Moderator will:

  • Teach and reinforce proper techniques for flag, rifle, dance, and movement.
  • Design and teach choreography that aligns with the marching band objectives.
  • Plan and conduct rehearsals and clinics as scheduled.
  • Assist with tryouts.
  • Collaborate with the Band Director to develop and implement performance programs.
  • Maintain high standards of performance, discipline, attendance, and sportsmanship.
  • Prepare students for performances, competitions, parades, exhibitions, and other events.
  • Provide constructive feedback and individualized coaching to students.
  • Ensure the safe use, handling, and storage of equipment and uniforms.
  • Assist with inventory management, equipment maintenance, and uniform distribution.
  • Support student leadership development.
  • Attend rehearsals, performances, competitions, band camps, and other required events.
  • Offer winter guard opportunities
  • Adhere to school policies and procedures.

Qualifications
  • Experience performing in or instructing a color guard and/or winter guard
  • Knowledge of color guard techniques, equipment, choreography, and performance standards.
  • Ability to teach students of varying skill levels.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, staff, and administrators.
  • Previous instructional experience with middle school, high school, collegiate, or independent guard programs (preferred).
  • Experience designing choreography for color guard (preferred).
