Job description

Stryker is hiring a Senior Staff Failure Analysis Engineer for our Instruments division. This is a hybrid position based in Kalamazoo, MI.

As Senior Staff Failure Analysis Engineer, you will join a cross-functional engineering team focused on analyzing product performance and driving quality improvements across the product lifecycle. You will support new product development and post-market activities by investigating product issues, identifying root causes, and ensuring alignment with quality and regulatory expectations. You will partner with engineering, quality, and service teams to maintain product reliability and performance.

What you will do

  • Collaborate with research and development teams to support design, development, and launch of new products.

  • Develop and maintain failure analysis procedures for instrument products, ensuring alignment with change management processes.

  • Analyze defective products, service data, and reports to identify trends and recommend corrective actions.

  • Execute advanced root cause investigations and evaluate solutions against product and component requirements.

  • Support product complaint investigations and field actions by analyzing data and providing engineering recommendations.

  • Maintain and analyze key performance metrics to support service operations and customer repair activities.

  • Apply statistical methods and engineering principles to assess product performance and process control.

  • Participate in audits and quality reviews, providing technical input and ensuring compliance with applicable standards.

What you need

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • 6+ years of experience in engineering, quality, manufacturing, or technical roles within a regulated environment

  • Experience performing product failure analysis and root cause investigations

  • Experience supporting engineering changes or product lifecycle activities

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline

  • Experience working in a regulated industry such as medical devices

  • Knowledge of electrical design, components, and systems

  • Experience applying statistical analysis tools and methods in engineering or quality environments
