Job Summary

The Parts Warehouse Associate is responsible for receiving, stocking, organizing, pulling, and distributing General Motors parts and accessories in support of the dealership's service, collision, wholesale, and retail parts operations. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate inventory, ensuring parts are available for technicians and customers, and supporting the overall efficiency of the parts department.


Duties/Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, unpack, and verify incoming General Motors parts and accessories against packing slips, invoices, and purchase orders.
  • Stock parts in the correct bin locations and maintain an organized, clean, and safe warehouse.
  • Pull and stage parts for service repair orders, counter sales, wholesale orders, and customer pickup.
  • Deliver parts to technicians promptly to help reduce repair delays and improve shop efficiency.
  • Assist with checking part numbers, quantities, and availability for repair orders and special-order parts.
  • Track and maintain accurate inventory counts through proper receiving, stocking, pulling, and posting procedures.
  • Assist with daily bin checks, cycle counts, inventory adjustments, and annual physical inventory.
  • Handle special-order parts, backordered parts, and customer-requested parts according to dealership process.
  • Process and organize cores, warranty parts, returns, damaged parts, and obsolete inventory as directed.
  • Assist with GM parts returns, core returns, warranty part retention, and parts scrapping procedures.
  • Help maintain compliance with GM parts policies, dealership inventory controls, and safety procedures.
  • Load, unload, and move parts using proper lifting techniques and approved warehouse equipment.
  • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, and other warehouse equipment according to dealership policy.
  • Assist drivers, parts counter personnel, service advisors, technicians, and management with parts-related needs.
  • Maintain clear communication with the parts counter, service department, and warehouse team.
  • Keep aisles, shelves, receiving areas, and parts storage areas neat and free of hazards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Parts Manager or dealership management.


Required Skills/Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of automotive parts, General Motors parts, or dealership parts operations preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand part numbers, invoices, repair orders, packing slips, and inventory documents.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when receiving, stocking, and pulling parts.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced dealership environment.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with technicians, advisors, counter personnel, and management.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to follow dealership procedures.
  • Ability to use or learn dealership management systems, electronic parts catalogs, and inventory tools.
  • Ability to follow safety rules, operating instructions, and warehouse procedures.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Must be able to complete dealership-approved forklift safety training and obtain forklift certification/license before operating forklift equipment.
  • Must operate forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, and other warehouse equipment safely and according to dealership policy.
  • Must be organized and able to manage multiple tasks throughout the day.


Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
  • Previous dealership, warehouse, shipping/receiving, or automotive parts experience preferred.
  • General Motors parts experience is a plus but not required.
  • Forklift certification/license preferred, or ability to obtain certification/license after hire.


Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull parts weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, squat, kneel, and climb throughout the workday.
  • Must have good hand-eye coordination and the ability to safely handle parts and warehouse equipment.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking are required.
  • Must be able to work in a warehouse environment with frequent movement, lifting, and physical activity.


Work Environment

This position operates in a dealership parts warehouse and service department environment. The employee may be exposed to moving vehicles, shop equipment, forklifts or carts, automotive parts, fluids, dust, noise, and changing temperatures. Safety procedures must be followed at all times.
