Description of Work
  • Responsible for implementing recruitment strategy within assigned territory to increase enrollment at the University of Nebraska College of Law.
  • Provide regular updates to the Assistant Dean for Admissions and Admissions Office team regarding recruitment strategies, materials, outcomes, personal connections, etc. Initiate and maintain positive relationships with prospective students as well as their persons of influence including parents, prelaw advisors, academic advisors and faculty members at colleges and universities within the assigned territory.
  • Foster relationships and communicate regularly with prospective students and persons of influence on topics including preparing for law school, the Law School Admissions Test, the law school application process as well as Nebraska Law programs, scholarships, financial aid, tuition, applicant credentials, graduate statistics, etc.
  • Communicate with prospective students and persons of influence through regular and consistent interaction via in-person visits, email, video conferencing and phone calls.
  • Professionally represent the College of Law at a variety of events including law school, graduate school and career fairs; visits to undergraduate colleges and universities; one on one meetings at and away from the College of Law; and, presentations to groups and undergraduate classes (large and small) at the College of Law as well as events at external locations.
  • Assist the Admissions Office in the planning, implementation and execution of recruitment events at the College of Law and off campus.
  • During peak times, extensive travel as well as work on nights and weekends is required.
  • Some lifting is necessary when traveling to and/or setting up for events.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree plus two years of experience in recruiting, public relations, student services, sales, marketing or related field.
  • Experience must demonstrate ability to project Nebraska Law's image in a professional, articulate manner.
  • Candidate must possess well-developed communication skills (verbal and written), public speaking skills as well as good organizational, problem-solving and decision making skills.
  • Ability to relate to people of all age groups, academic abilities and cultures required.
  • Experience with word processing, database, spreadsheet and presentation software necessary.
  • Must be able to work independently, manage multiple priorities and complete assigned projects on time.
  • Ability to learn new technologies required. Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor Degree or undergraduate and/or graduate recruitment experience desirable.
  • Familiarity with College of Law, UNL and the State of Nebraska is useful.
  • Experience as a student ambassador, with event planning and implementation and/or with complex student information systems are helpful.
