Job description

Help students get into college! AJ Tutoring is an established boutique education company in the Bay Area. We've been supporting students for more than 20 years on their journey to college. In this unique hybrid tutor and college counselor role, you would be working directly with students to support them with their academic coursework and with the college application process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coach and guide high school students through the entire college application process, including identifying a list of colleges, essay drafting and editing, and completing all parts of the college application 
  • Manage deadlines and keep students on track for timely submission of applications
  • Meet with students and parents regularly to discuss progress on college applications
  • Maintain open lines of communication with parents throughout the college application process 
    • Tutor students in an academic subject during after-school hours

Job Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree and teaching competency in at least one high school academic subject
    • Experience working with students
    • Evening and weekend availability
    • Flexibility and ability to move seamlessly between different tasks and job responsibilities
    • High attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to both high school students and their parents
  • At least one year of experience working as an admissions counselor or application reader at a selective college preferred
