Collections Supervisor
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
General Electric Credit Union is a not-for-profit, member-owned full service financial institution headquartered in Cincinnati with branches in Ohio and Kentucky. Overview:
The Collections Supervisor oversees a team of collection specialists that drive projects, processes and initiatives for the collection of outstanding debts to the Credit Union, ensuring quality member experience and adherence to regulatory compliance.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Delegate responsibility to coordinate and execute on initiatives that focus on recovering high-volume charged off debt, including consumer loans, mortgage loans, credit cards and repossessions
  • Facilitate negotiations with members on high-volume accounts
  • Administer communication on team guidelines regularly including areas of focus to collect, negotiation terms and account priorities
  • Handles all escalated member concerns, complex accounts and team member inquiries
  • Reviews all audit reports and ensures complete compliance with the FDCPA, taking action to remedy any concerns timely
  • Work effectively with agencies, legal teams and other third parties to generate results when necessary and partner with internal partners to coordinate streamlined efforts
  • Support team efforts for skip tracing staying knowledgeable of industry, vendors solutions and other channels for locating members
  • Facilitate performance management, staffing and development of team
  • Works to enhance and sustain an effective organizational culture by building positive, collaborative, and functional relationships amongst peers and leaders to drive Credit Union initiatives and programs
  • Understand and adhere to regulatory and compliance standards, requirements, and policies
  • Remain updated and knowledgeable of all regulatory and compliance standards as well as Credit Union product as they may relate to role
  • Review and approve fees and invoices
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years working in high-volume, charge-off required
  • Prior experience supervising, leading or coaching team members

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Good Communication skills, both verbal and written and negotiation skills
  • Strong leadership ability to motivate staff
  • Extensive knowledge of regulations and guidelines set forth in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act which sets limits on the techniques and methods that can be used to collect the debt
  • Ability to manage a team in a fast-paced environment
