Purpose:
To ensure efficient store operations, maintain product availability, and create an appealing shopping environment for customers while also focusing on reducing shrink caused by damages, out-of-date products, and mislabeling.

Key Responsibilities:

Opening Procedures:

  • Meet on time in assigned areas for start of shift meeting.
  • Review daily tasks and priorities with supervisor
  • Ensure all areas are clean and presentable
  • Check for and replace any damaged or missing shelf labels in assigned stocking area.
  • Verify that all signage is correct and up-to-date in assigned stocking area.

Stocking:

  • Stock all pallets from the drop list and freight received from Opsite and DSD deliveries.
  • Check backroom inventory for OOS items on the sales floor and restock as necessary.
  • Follow planograms for correct product placement.
  • Rotate stock to ensure first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory management.
  • Report low stock levels and out-of-stock (OOS) items to supervisor or merchandise lead.
  • Coordinate with merchandise leads or backroom coordinators to prioritize stocking based on store needs and OOS situations.

Zoning:

  • Regularly straighten and organize merchandise in assigned areas.
  • Face products to create a neat, uniform appearance.
  • Remove damaged or misplaced items.
  • Ensure price tags and labels are visible and correctly placed.

Sign Maintenance:

  • Check for damaged, outdated, or missing signage.
  • Replace or update signs as necessary.
  • Ensure all promotional signage is correctly placed and current.
  • Remove expired promotional materials.

Area Maintenance:

  • Keep assigned areas clean and free of debris.
  • Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues to supervisor.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness of common areas (e.g., aisles, PODs, & endcaps).
  • Immediately report any sightings of pests, including insects, rodents, or signs of their presence such as droppings or gnaw marks, to your supervisor and provide the location and type of pest observed.

Closing Procedures:

  • Begin final zone of assigned areas 30 minutes before closing.
  • Ensure all merchandise is properly secured and organized.
  • Remove any go-backs or misplaced items to designated areas.
  • Assist in cleaning and straightening as directed by supervisor.

Customer Service:

  • Be aware of cultural differences in greetings. Maintain a friendly, approachable demeanor at all times.
  • Provide personalized product recommendations based on customer needs.
  • Handle complaints promptly and professionally, escalating to management when necessary.
  • Be knowledgeable about current promotions, store policies, and product locations.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated on product knowledge, store promotions, and membership benefits.
  • Seek feedback on performance and areas for improvement.
  • Participate in additional training opportunities when offered.

Additional Duties:

Floor Merchandise Colleagues may be asked to perform any reasonable task assigned by supervisors or management to support store operations and customer service. This may include, but is not limited to:

  • Assist with regular inventory counts as assigned by management.
  • Help with store merchandising, including setting up displays and promotional areas.
  • Help maintain the overall appearance and organization of the store.
  • Participating in team meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by leadership.
