Department: Mortgage Operations

Introduction

Village Capital is seeking an experienced Escrow Officer Assistant/ Title Settlement Agent to join our growing mortgage operations team. This role is not with a title company β€”instead, the position operates in‑house within our mortgage company and focuses on post‑closing settlement review, compliance analysis, and corrective actions to ensure loan files meet regulatory and investor requirements.

  • Audit closing packages, settlement statements, and escrow documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Identify and resolve title, escrow, and settlement discrepancies.
  • Coordinate curative actions including missing documentation, recording issues, and title corrections.
  • Work with internal teams, closing agents, title companies, and county recording offices to resolve post‑closing issues.
  • Ensure loan files meet investor, regulatory, and company requirements.
  • Review recorded documents and confirm proper recording and lien position.
  • Maintain accurate records of audit findings and corrective actions.
  • Assist with post‑closing compliance and quality control initiatives.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years experience as an Escrow Officer, Title Officer, Settlement Agent, or Post‑Closing Specialist.
  • Strong understanding of title insurance, escrow procedures, and mortgage closing documentation.
  • Experience reviewing HUD‑1/CD, settlement packages, and recorded mortgage documents.
  • Knowledge of post‑closing processes, curative work, and document compliance.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple files and resolve complex issues efficiently.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in post‑closing, collateral review, or mortgage quality control.
  • Background in title curative or recording resolution.
  • Familiarity with investor guidelines (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA).
What We Offer
  • Competitive compensation
  • Opportunity to work inside a mortgage company environment rather than a traditional title agency
