As aTeam LeadofPhysicalEngineeringintheUtilitiesdepartment,you willbe responsible formanagingateamcomprisedof engineers, drafters,anddesigners.A Team Lead's (TL's) primary responsibility will be theaccurate,timely, and quality completion ofphysical/structural substation engineering scopes assigned to the team.The Team Lead will contribute to the development and refinement of internal processes and workflows that improve quality, consistency, and efficiency across the department. Theyare responsible forpromoting, implementing, and reinforcing these processes while serving as a mentor and coach to their team. Team Leads support the professional and technical development of employees, encouraging accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Salary Range:$100,000 - $150,000 / year
The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.
This opportunity is available to bothlocal / in-office(Lakewood, CO) andfull-time remotecandidates.
Essential ResponsibilitiesLeadership Responsibilities
Oversees a team producing full detailed-design packages that includegeneral arrangements, elevations, foundation plan and details,structure design and fabrication details, bus and connection details, bill of materials, building plan, conductor stringing tables, fence details, permitting,structure loading diagrams, construction details, and supporting calculation packages.
Manages and coordinates design activities, project planning, team level scheduling and optimization, and coordination between scopes of other disciplines for small to large scale projects to ensure adequate project coverage and operational efficiency.
Works with Directors to develop andmaintainWorkload Forecasting, ensuringan accurateactive project list, milestone dates, and estimate to complete (ETC) hours.
Understands NEI processes, best practices, standards, andpolicies thoroughlyandprovidesguidance to your teamasrequired.
Engineering Responsibilities:
Oversees the detailed physical design and engineering for all aspects of electric power substationsincludinggenerating plants, utility transmission and distribution, and industrial and commercial facilities.
Reviews the work of your team members (engineers, designers, drafters) forgeneral quality, accuracy, and adherence to NEI and/or client standards and processes.
Must Have
Engineeringexpertisein physical substation design including substation electrical clearances, one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, physical layouts, section & elevations, bus configurations, control buildings,selectionof substation equipment and any other aspect of HV and EHV substation physical engineering.
An understandingof structural substation engineering, including steel design, reinforced concrete design, and foundations is a plus.
Experience adhering to National Electric Code (NEC), National Electric Safety Code (NESC), IEEE codes and standards, and relevant county, city, and state regulations.
