Position Overview

DFWCGI is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design efforts for new construction and renovation projects, with a strong emphasis on mission-critical facilities.

This is a visible, high-responsibility role that blends hands-on technical design with leadership, coordination, and quality oversight. You’ll collaborate directly with clients and project stakeholders while guiding internal teams through complex engineering challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Client Collaboration & Engineering Solutions

  • Partner directly with clients to understand technical needs, constraints, and operational priorities
  • Develop and evaluate design options, guiding clients through tradeoffs related to performance, reliability, constructability, risk, and lifecycle considerations

Electrical Design Leadership

Lead the development of electrical design deliverables, including:

  • Conceptual design
  • Equipment selection
  • Construction drawings
  • Specifications
  • Engineering narratives

Produce clear electrical markups and ensure documentation standards are met across project phases

Multi-Discipline Coordination

  • Coordinate with mechanical, architectural, structural, civil, and specialty disciplines to deliver fully coordinated, code-compliant, and constructable designs
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, consultants, vendors, and project stakeholders to meet scope, schedule, and quality objectives

Quality Control & Technical Review

  • Serve as Electrical Discipline Lead by:

    • Reviewing calculations for accuracy and completeness

    • Reviewing design documents for consistency and quality

    • Supporting QA/QC milestones and constructability reviews

  • Support project managers with schedule adherence, budget alignment, and delivery standards

Construction Phase Support

  • Provide technical support during construction, including:

    • RFI responses

    • Submittal reviews

    • Site visits and field observations

    • Issue resolution and coordination support

Mentoring & Development

  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers

  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, learning, and technical excellence

Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • 6+ years of professional experience in MEP consulting engineering

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (or higher)

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or clearly on track to obtain PE within a defined timeframe

  • Strong knowledge of building and infrastructure electrical systems, including:

    • Power distribution

    • Grounding and bonding

    • Protective device coordination principles

    • Code-driven design methodologies

  • Proven experience leading electrical design on multi-discipline projects

  • Strong technical and client-facing communication skills

  • Ability to coordinate effectively with architects, contractors, owners, vendors, and internal teams

Preferred Qualifications

Nice-to-haves that strengthen candidacy but are not required:

  • Revit experience

  • Prior mission-critical experience (data centers, telecom, high-reliability facilities)

  • Experience delivering design and construction administration under aggressive schedules

  • Alignment with service-oriented and community-focused values

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: $115,000 – $150,000 (DOE)
Bonus: Performance-based bonus potential
