Job Description
Perform detailed phases of architectural design work for small to large projects. The Architect will exercise independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard architectural design techniques, procedures, and criteria to make design adaptations and modifications. The Architect will work with both internal and external team members in the completion of projects. The Architect reports to the Studio Partner while receiving direction and guidance from Project Managers and/or Project Architects. The Architect has the opportunity to take on a leadership role in the firm.
Responsibilities (others may be assigned):
COMMUNICATION

  • Direct activities of team members engaged in the preparation of drawings and specification documents, and develop the technical competence of project team members
COLLABORATION
  • Prepare project presentations and participate in and/or lead client presentations
  • In conjunction with Project Architect and/or Project Manager, consult with client(s) to determine functional and spatial requirements of new structure or renovation, and prepare information regarding design, specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs and construction schedule
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, and MEP consultants
  • Assist in producing conceptual design, schematic design, design development, and construction documentation using Revit/BIM processes according to direction provided by Project Manager and/or Project Architect
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
  • Communicate with both leadership and team members about assignments including time allocation, individual tasks, and deadlines
  • Assist in development of schedules and work plans for proposed work
STANDARDS AND CODES
  • Assist in conducting research on products, codes, and ordinances to determine project compliance, and make recommendations to the project team
  • Develop design documents and integrate engineering elements into a coordinated package for client review and approval
  • Review and ensure quality of documentation at all phases of design
  • Oversee the team's use of the PRA Working Drawing Checklist while mentoring less experienced team members
  • Work with Project Manager on all local and state ordinances and building code requirements
  • Lead and conduct periodic on-site observation of the work during construction to monitor conformance with the construction documents
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
  • Maintain relationship with the client after project completion and provide follow-up as needed
Job Requirements Desired Qualifications/Knowledge:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture
  • Licensed Architect. Ability to obtain licensure in the state of employment
  • Proficiency in Revit/BIM Processes
  • Ability to Travel between the Office and Client/Job Sites. Valid Drivers License and access to insured vehicle during business hours
  • Four years of experience in related field
  • Understanding of Building code applications and ability to perform code studies
  • Understands land use regulatory process and can perform basic zoning research
  • Ability to interpret sketches, plans, specifications
  • Ability to analyze and solve drafting problems
  • Familiarity with various Building materials
  • Willingness to work in a team environment to achieve desired results
  • Ability to prioritize time and tasks to meet project deadlines
  • Demonstrate a continuous learning mindset
  • Listen actively, acknowledge and respond to feedback
