Job description

This position is responsible for the safe hook up and movement of trailers on company property. This position is responsible for accurate temperature settings on cold storage trailers and communicating with the Order Assembly, Transportation and Quality Assurance regarding stored product. This position must be familiar with and follow all safety procedures regarding motor vehicles and powered industrial trucks.
Safe and efficient movement of onsite trailers
Prioritize staging of trailers in lot and at various dock locations
Manage and track trailer inventory (loaded, empty, Dry, refrigerated)
Daily Yard Checks in each of the drop area communicating to Supervisor as to what the status of the trailers are in each area.
Daily Checks for trailers in need of inspection/repairs - This information will be relayed to the Garage and Transportation teams.
Use a handheld two way radio to communicate with the plant, operations or management.
Track and document all trailer movements and provide daily activity to management
Meet performance requirements - Moves/hour, on-time departure
Stage trailer in compliance with site plan and make recommendations as trailer pool fluctuates.
Train new hires and maintain productive and positive work environment
Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip documentation for assigned tractor.
Set appropriate temperature as directed for all refrigerated trailers at time of loading and unloading
Assist route drivers with trailer retrival if dropped in difficult location.
