Job description

The Food Service Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the prepared foods, deli, bakery, and grab-and-go departments within the grocery store. This position Ensures high standards of food safety, quality, merchandising, and customer service, while managing costs and supervising team members to achieve sales and margin goals.
Key Responsibilities
  • Direct daily operations of food service departments (deli, bakery, prepared foods, grab-and-go).
  • Plan and execute merchandising, displays, and promotions to maximize sales and profitability.
  • Train, schedule, and supervise team members; provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and labeling standards (local, state, federal).
  • Develop and monitor production plans to minimize shrink and maximize freshness.
  • Maintain accurate inventory; order supplies and ingredients within budgetary guidelines.
  • Monitor sales, margin, and labor reports; take corrective action to meet financial targets.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service; handle customer requests and resolve issues quickly.
  • Partner with Store Director and corporate leadership to implement company programs and policies.
  • Foster a safe, positive, and productive work environment in line with company culture and values.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in business, culinary arts, or hospitality management preferred.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in grocery food service, deli, or bakery operations.
  • Knowledge of grocery retail merchandising, sales, and inventory practices.
  • ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification required (or ability to obtain within 30 days).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with POS, scheduling, and inventory systems.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. regularly.
  • Exposure to hot ovens, cold storage, and humid food prep areas.
