Cold Thread Machinist/Operator (2nd

shift only)

Position Summary

The Cold Thread Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring thread rolling machines used in the manufacturing of precision fasteners. The operator ensures products meet customer specifications and quality standards while maintaining safety, efficiency, and productivity goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate cold thread rolling machines to produce threaded fasteners according to engineering specifications.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, process sheets, work instructions, and quality requirements.

  • Perform machine adjustments to maintain thread dimensions, pitch, and product quality.

  • Conduct first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using measuring instruments and thread gauges.

  • Monitor machine performance and identify quality or production issues.

  • Replace tooling, dies, and machine components as required.

  • Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and coordinate repairs with maintenance personnel.

  • Maintain accurate production records and inspection documentation.

  • Follow established production schedules and meet hourly production targets.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area using 5S and housekeeping standards.

  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Previous manufacturing or thread rolling experience preferred.

  • Experience operating cold heading, thread rolling, or similar metal-forming equipment is a plus.

  • Ability to read blueprints and understand mechanical drawings.

  • Basic math and measurement skills.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

Skills and Competencies

  • Knowledge of thread rolling and fastener manufacturing processes.

  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment, including:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

  • Ability to maintain productivity while ensuring compliance with quality standards.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

  • Frequent lifting of materials, tooling, and finished products.

  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive tasks.

  • Ability to work safely around moving machinery and industrial equipment.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing facility producing precision fasteners for automotive and industrial applications.

  • Exposure to machinery noise, lubricants, oils, and metal products.

  • Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
