Job description

JOB SUMMARY:
The material handler ensures that the material flow of parts to be handled takes place according to production flow and quality criteria by the selection and employment of suitable employees and in compliance with all safety, existing laws, regulations and rules.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensures machines in assigned department are stocked with all parts needed to run
  • Make sure all parts are put away after a run to ensure parts are not mixed
  • Scale tubs, unless machine is set up for quantity, and sheet is ready to move to next job.
  • Ensure washers are scanned to machine and then put in PROD when delivered to machine
  • Ensure returned washers' quantity is adjusted and then put away in the racks
  • Ensure WIP is organized and find lost bins as needed
  • Work closely with any new driver in your department, released to the production floor
  • Must complete pre-shift check sheet and report any defects immediately.
  • Must follow all safety standards: Proper PPE, Steel toe boots, Seat belt, Stop at intersections.
  • Material handlers are responsible for the product flow in the plant. Report issues.
  • Follow the process for Stock / Status sheets and follow FIFO
  • Close cooperation with the areas of Technical Quality, Customer Service, Warehouse and MRP.
  • Supply of packaging material where required.
  • Encouraging the continuous improvement of the internal logistics product flow.
  • Keep up on shop floor activities in assigned departments and WIP.
  • Monitoring and optimization of the scanning process and Task Management system
  • Use computer to find needed wire and bring to Header and load on saddle.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participation in group meeting, results and targets.
  • Monitoring of 6S in your work area
  • Make sure water levels are checked on Raymonds daily
  • Know OSP loading/unloading, shipping/receiving, and customer portals/invoice process
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5 years of shipping experience in a manufacturing enivornment.
  • Good communication skills and ability to talk with employees of all levels, customers and drivers.
  • Computer (MS Office) and SAP experience is required.
  • Ability to solve problems.
  • Must be able to handle pressure and stress while supporting the machine operators.
  • Must have Forklift and Raymond licenses. Issued after successful training.
  • Must be able to work any shift.
COMPUTER TRANSACTIONS:
  • Must be able to find work instructions on computer
  • Must have knowledge of SAP functions that pertain to the job
