Job description

This position is responsible for managing all inbound and outbound shipping and freight operations, along with U.S. Customs and tariff compliance activities. The role oversees a team of two logistics coordinators and partners cross-functionally to ensure efficient, compliant, and cost-effective movement of goods.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day inbound and outbound shipping and freight operations, ensuring on-time delivery and cost efficiency.
  • Oversee U.S. Customs and international trade compliance activities, including tariff classification (HTS) and duty management.
  • Supervise a team of logistics staff; assign workload and review performance.
  • Serve as primary point of escalation for shipment issues, carrier disputes, and customer service concerns.
  • Manage relationships with freight forwarders, carriers, brokers, and customs agents; negotiate rates and service agreements.
  • Manage inbound and outbound shipments and ensure accurate HTS assignment for all transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable import/export regulations, trade agreements, and company policy.
  • Monitor and report on key logistics metrics (on-time performance, freight spend, claims, etc.) to the Director of Supply Chain.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase logistics efficiency and reduce cost.
  • Manage insurance claims and freight discrepancy resolution.
  • Collaborate with other departments (Warehouse, Purchasing, Planning, Finance, Production) on logistics-related needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics and freight operations, including U.S. Customs and trade compliance; prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, import/export procedures, and trade compliance.
  • Proven ability to negotiate with vendors, carriers, and service providers.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and logistics or ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
