Details:
Cognos Engineer / Cognos Administrator
Location: Houston - TX - Hybrid
Duration: 12-24 months
Required:
  • Expertise with Cognos. Able to install, configure, and maintain IBM Cognos suite of tools (Cognos Analytics, Cognos Report Studio, Cognos Dashboard, etc.).
  • Experience with designing and developing custom reports, dashboards, and data models that align with business objectives.
  • Experience with set up and maintaining Cognos security, user roles, permissions, and access controls.
  • Able to integrate Cognos with other enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, data warehouses, etc.).
  • Able to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical issues related to Cognos software, databases, and servers.
  • Experience with documenting Cognos system architecture, configurations, and customizations; and develop user manuals and technical documentation for the Cognos environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain IBM Cognos suite of tools (Cognos Analytics, Cognos Report Studio, Cognos Dashboard, etc.).
  • Work with business stakeholders to define reporting and dashboard requirements and translate them into actionable Cognos solutions.
  • Design and develop custom reports, dashboards, and data models that align with business objectives.
  • Ensure Cognos environments are configured to meet business needs, including scalability, performance, and user access requirements.
  • Set up and maintain Cognos security, user roles, permissions, and access controls.
  • Integrate Cognos with other enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, data warehouses, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical issues related to Cognos software, databases, and servers.
  • Support the deployment of new versions, patches, and updates to the Cognos platform.
  • Perform data validation and reconciliation between Cognos and source systems.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of Cognos reports, dashboards, and data queries.
  • Implement best practices for performance tuning and large dataset handling.
  • Analyze system logs, track performance metrics, and recommend improvements.
  • Document the Cognos system architecture, configurations, and customizations.
