The Expert Epic Cogito Developer / Report Writer is the highest-level individual contributor in the Epic Cogito reporting track at UVM Health. This role serves as the technical authority for the Enterprise Analytics Cogito reporting environment, setting build standards, governing the report library, and ensuring the overall health, performance, and quality of the Cogito reporting ecosystem. The Expert Developer leads the most complex and strategically significant reporting builds, governs the SlicerDicer and Radar environments, and serves as the primary Cogito technical partner for clinical informatics and the Epic IT team. The Expert Developer mentors both Sr. and staff Cogito Developers, contributes to department-wide analytics product quality, and is responsible for the long-term evolution of UVM Health's Cogito reporting capabilities in alignment with Epic's product roadmap.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Epic Cogito Proficiency certification required. Three or more Cogito build certifications (e.g., Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer, Radar, Chronicles) required. Epic Community and/or Epic XGM participation preferred.

Experience:
  • 7+ years of experience with Epic Cogito reporting tools, with deep expertise across Clarity, Caboodle, Radar, SlicerDicer, Reporting Workbench, and Chronicles.
  • Demonstrated history of designing and governing enterprise-scale Epic reporting environments.
  • Extensive experience leading upgrade impact analysis and remediation programs across large Cogito report inventories.
  • Experience serving as a technical lead or architect for a Cogito reporting team.
  • Experience collaborating with Epic IT teams and clinical informaticists at a senior level on build governance and architecture decisions.
  • Experience managing a complex SlicerDicer data model library and Radar environment.
  • Advanced SQL skills for Clarity and Caboodle data analysis.
  • Experience working in agile product delivery required.
