Prizm Electrical Solutions, Inc. is hiring Traveling Electrical Apprentices to join our team. This position will perform all phases of electrical and will work in multiple states. Candidates must take extreme pride in their work, value positive company culture, and perpetual internal growth.

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  • Assist a journeyman electrician and follow instructions
  • Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit, using measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment and keep parts and supplies in order.
  • Perform semi-skilled and unskilled laboring duties related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Disassemble defective electrical equipment, replace defective or worn parts, and reassemble equipment, using hand tools.
  • Thread conduit ends, connect couplings, and fabricate and secure conduit support brackets, using hand tools.
  • Examine electrical units for loose connections and broken insulation and tighten connections, using hand tools.
  • Operates a variety of hand tools including core drill, hammer drill, drill motors, KO sets, conduit benders, and conduit threaders
  • Perform underground and overhead electrical installations
  • Strip insulation from wire ends, using wire stripping pliers, and attach wires to terminals for subsequent soldering.
  • Circuit tracing
  • Install copper-clad ground rods, using a manual post driver.
  • Erect electrical system components and barricades, and rig scaffolds, hoists, and shoring.
  • Transport tools, materials, equipment, and supplies to work site by hand, hand truck, or heavy, motorized truck.
  • Construct controllers and panels, using power drills, drill presses, taps, saws, and punches.
  • Raise, lower, or position equipment, tools, and materials, using hoist, hand line, or block and tackle.
  • Requisition materials, using warehouse requisition or release forms.
  • Electricians risk injury from electrical shock, falls, and cuts; to avoid injuries, they must follow strict safety procedures.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Completion of or enrollment in electrician training program
  • Able to diagnose problems using electronic test equipment
  • Knowledge of NEC electrical code
  • Eagerness to learn electrical schematics and blueprint reading skills

Physical Requirements:
  • Physically fit and capable of carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently work on manlifts, ladders and scaffolds.
  • Working environment varies, depending on the type of job. Including, but not limited to natural ambient conditions, confined areas, ditches, or other uncomfortable places.
  • Work weeks are typically 40 hours with project specific overtime, as needed.
  • Project specific travel may be required.
