Overview
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and lead our payroll function. This role will manage monthly close activities, ensure the accuracy of financial reporting, support process improvements, and supervise staff responsible for accounts payable, general ledger work, and payroll processing.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple locations, high transaction volume, and a complex payroll structure.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
  • Oversee all daily accounting operations including AP, AR, general ledger, and cash posting.
  • Manage the monthly close process to ensure deadlines are met (7th business day close; 10th business day reporting).
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.
  • Maintain and enforce accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Support preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting packages.
  • Partner with department leaders to ensure accuracy of departmental reporting and budget-to-actual reviews.

Payroll Management
  • Oversee weekly payroll processing for hourly and salaried staff.
  • Ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, proper overtime calculations, and correct application of payroll codes.
  • Coordinate with HR to review employee status, pay changes, deductions, benefits, and leave adjustments.
  • Manage payroll reconciliations, GL uploads, and reporting.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and provide excellent support to employees and managers.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.

Leadership & Process Improvement
  • Supervise and support accounting and payroll staff, providing feedback, training, and performance guidance.
  • Streamline and automate processes, including AP automation, payroll workflows, and month-end tasks.
  • Assist in ERP, payroll, or systems transitions (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Yooz, Traumasoft, ADP).
  • Participate in audits and prepare required schedules (bank, financial, workers comp, 401k, etc.).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Operations, Billing, and senior leadership.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or MBA a plus.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory or senior-level role.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, payroll concepts, and internal controls.
  • Experience managing payroll for multi-site or multi-entity organizations preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with QuickBooks Online, ADP, Traumasoft, or Yooz strongly preferred.
  • Ability to analyze data, solve problems, and communicate clearly across all levels of the organization.
  • High attention to detail, strong organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
