Description

Overview/Function: The Recycling Materials Handler is responsible for the branchs recycling efforts of returned PET, aluminum, cardboard, and paper products and all recyclable material that aligns with the companys strategic goals.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Perform all aspects of the companys recycling efforts, including PET, aluminum, cardboard, and paper products.
  • Prep, sort, and load recyclables into appropriate containers for vendor pick up. Dispose of recyclables where applicable.
  • Where appropriate, utilize compactor and breakdown cardboard and other recyclables.
  • Repair, sort, and organize returned pallets and shells.
  • Maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs). Handle appropriate disposal and follow company standards.
  • Provide frequent area cleaning and housekeeping.
  • Comply with all safety procedures. Maintain clean and orderly work area to ensure safety.
  • According to quality standards, wash out trailers to prepare for re-use.
  • Ethical conduct is expected at all times.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

Experience & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Previously forklift experience is helpful.
  • Good organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with little direction.
  • Good team-player.
  • Flexible with the ability to adapt to varying situations.
  • Positive, helpful attitude.
  • Some light computer experience is helpful.
  • Regular attendance is required and considered an essential job function.

Additional:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This is a physical position, requiring repetitive movement with lifting/pulling of up to 55 lbs. (Moving equipment and tools will be provided to reduce strains and injury.) Standing, walking, twisting, grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, sitting, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing will be required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The ability to climb stairs will also be needed.
  • The typical work days will be Monday-Friday. Although minimal, some evening and weekend work may be required.
  • This role is considered a safety sensitive position.
