Job description

Position Title: COBOL Developer
Location: Atlanta, GA
Engagement Type: Contract
Work Mode: Onsite
Duration: December 2025 – June 2026 (7 months)
Interview Type: In-person

Role Overview:
Seeking an experienced COBOL Mainframe Developer to maintain and enhance critical mainframe applications. This consultant will translate business requirements, support software operational efficiency, and assist in legacy-to-web system conversion, all within a collaborative, onsite environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate business analysis and design documents into functional COBOL programs.

  • Maintain, modify, and test mainframe-based user screens, batch processes, reports, queries, and menus.

  • Review and update existing code and business processes to support operational functions.

  • Perform code testing, file management, results review, and validation of implemented changes.

  • Identify data errors through application logic and produce summary reports with IBM/Microsoft tools.

  • Assist in converting COBOL applications to web-based platforms.

  • Create comprehensive program and user documentation.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of COBOL development on IBM/DELL mainframes.

  • Proficiency with JCL, DB2, Control-M.

  • Strong background in software development lifecycle and documentation.

  • Hands-on experience with AWS and Postgres DB.

  • Kofax and Java programming expertise.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with legacy-to-web platform migrations.

Additional Details:
Work is fully onsite. Standard schedule is 8 hours/day, 5 days/week. All candidates must be local to Metro Atlanta and onsite attendance is strictly required for the entire engagement.
