What is a COBOL Mainframe Programmer?

A COBOL Mainframe Programmer is a software developer who specializes in writing, maintaining, and troubleshooting programs written in COBOL (Common Business-Oriented Language) for mainframe computers. These professionals are vital in industries like banking, insurance, and government, where legacy systems built on mainframes are still widely used. They work with batch and online processing, databases, and older operating systems, ensuring critical business applications run smoothly and are updated as needed. Their work often involves understanding complex, decades-old code and integrating it with modern technologies.
