What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the cobol consulting position, and why are they important?

To thrive in Cobol Consulting, strong expertise in Cobol programming, legacy system maintenance, and a solid background in information technology or computer science are vital. Familiarity with mainframe environments, source control tools, and certifications such as IBM System z or similar credentials are commonly required. Excellent problem-solving abilities, client communication, and adaptability set standout consultants apart. These skills enable consultants to bridge the gap between legacy systems and modern business needs, ensuring efficient and reliable solutions for clients.
