Industrial Painter
Location: Sacramento, CA & Surrounding Areas
Pay: DOE
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday-Friday (Overtime may be available)
Job Overview
Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced Industrial Painter to support structural steel and industrial coating projects throughout the Sacramento area. This position requires a highly skilled painter with experience applying industrial coatings using airless and conventional spray equipment on structural steel, fabricated metal, and other industrial surfaces.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of surface preparation, coating application techniques, safety procedures, and quality standards.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare structural steel, metal components, and industrial surfaces for painting through sanding, grinding, blasting, masking, and cleaning.
  • Apply primers, epoxies, urethanes, zinc-rich coatings, and other industrial coatings using airless, conventional, and HVLP spray equipment.
  • Mix paints and coatings according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Operate and maintain industrial spray equipment and painting tools.
  • Read and interpret work orders, paint specifications, and coating requirements.
  • Inspect finished work to ensure proper thickness, coverage, and quality standards.
  • Perform touch-up work as needed.
  • Follow OSHA safety regulations and properly use PPE.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Work both independently and as part of a team to complete projects on schedule.
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of recent Industrial Painting experience (required).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience painting structural steel or large industrial projects.
  • Extensive experience operating airless spray equipment is required.
  • Experience with conventional and HVLP spray systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of industrial coating systems including:
    • Epoxy coatings
    • Polyurethane coatings
    • Zinc-rich primers
    • Alkyd and enamel coatings
  • Ability to properly prepare surfaces for industrial coatings.
  • Ability to read blueprints, work orders, or coating specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable standing, bending, climbing, and working in industrial environments.
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
Preferred Certifications
The following certifications are highly preferred but not always required:
  • NACE Coating Inspector Program (CIP) or familiarity with NACE coating standards
  • SSPC/C3 Certified Industrial Painter (formerly Society for Protective Coatings; now part of AMPP)
  • AMPP (Association for Materials Protection and Performance) Coating Application Specialist or equivalent
  • OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification
  • Forklift Certification
  • Respirator Fit Test/Medical Clearance (if required by the worksite)
