Job description

The Role

The Multnomah Athletic Club is seeking a Fitness Coach to join our Fitness & Performance team, a group dedicated to empowering a community of lifelong athletes through highquality training and exceptional member experiences. As a Fitness Coach, you will play a key role in delivering individualized training that supports members at every stage of their health and performance journey.

In this position, you will design and implement safe, effective, and personalized programs tailored to each client’s goals, health history, and current fitness level. Beyond program design, our coaches cultivate an environment that is welcoming, motivating, and inclusive. We expect our coaches to provide outstanding customer service, uphold professionalism, and remain fully present and engaged throughout every session.

What You'll Do 

  • Conduct comprehensive client assessments, including health histories, movement evaluations, and readiness screenings.
  • Design and adapt individualized training programs tailored to client goals, injuries, and medical considerations.
  • Lead highquality, engaging training sessions with professionalism, positive energy, and clear coaching cues.
  • Provide ongoing support through consistent followup, program adjustments, and personalized exercise guidance.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records, including billing, scheduling, and administrative tasks.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, continuing education opportunities, and clubwide initiatives.
  • Uphold all MAC safety standards and remain prepared to respond effectively to emergency situations.
  • Contribute to a welcoming, communityfocused environment that supports MAC’s mission of developing lifelong athletes.

What You'll Bring

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and one year of education, training and/or experience that would demonstrate the ability to perform the work of this position.
  • Technical understanding of human anatomy, biomechanics, and physiology as it relates to personal training applications. Previous personal training experience preferred.
  • All personal trainers must hold nationally accredited fitness and CPR/AED/First Aid certifications.
