Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The annual salary for this role is $82,000 with a one-time $6,000 signing bonus.
Position Overview:
The Electrical Engineering Services and Systems global service team is one of the largest and most experienced teams of power system professionals in the industry. As one of our engineers, you'll help to provide solutions to our customers' power problems at every stage of the power system.
Eaton's switchgear modernization offers cost-effective renovation to existing equipment, with minimal power interruptions and without total replacement. Our solutions extend the useful life of aging electrical power systems by providing safe and reliable reconditioning of existing equipment, as well as new replacement circuit breakers and other components that improve reliability and safety in existing power systems.
In this role you will:
  • Follow EESS safety policies while working in both shop and field environments.
  • Travel to customer sites to collect field measurements and assess existing equipment.
  • Design and develop custom retrofit solutions for vintage switchgear using CAD, including technical drawings, schematics, bills of materials, and assembly documentation.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and validate electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems to ensure solutions meet customer requirements and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers, manufacturing teams, and customers to resolve technical challenges, support control system requirements, and ensure manufacturability.
  • Receive, inspect, assemble, and produce final solutions while maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Support quoting, application engineering, and proposal development for customer projects.
  • Occasionally travel to job sites to oversee installation and implementation of solutions.
  • Attend product and technical training to maintain a high level of industry and product knowledge.

Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering from an accredited institution, with graduation date before August of 2027
  • Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.8
  • Minimum of one internship/co-op experience or an equivalent 3 months of experience in a technician or maintenance role working on or with machines, vehicles or large equipment
  • Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. This means that Eaton will not support any CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT plans, F-1 to H-1B, H-1B cap registration, O-1, E-3, TN status, I-485 job portability, etc.
  • Must be geographically flexible to relocate within the United States

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree in engineering with a major in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or mechatronics from an accredited institution
  • Completed training and/or experience working with AutoDesk Inventor, Pro-E, or Solidworks
  • Overall cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher
  • Prior work experience within the electrical/power industry with understanding of 3-phase power systems and low, medium, and high voltage power distribution equipment
  • Experience in testing, troubleshooting, evaluating, and servicing electrical distribution and control systems
  • Experience performing power quality measurements, troubleshooting, analysis as well as protective relays
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within campus and/or community

Position Success Criteria:
  • Successfully complete and maintain compliance with Eaton's safety program and policy; This includes role-applicable portions of the EESS Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) program and any required annual re-certifications thereafter
  • Submit to periodic customer required background and drug screenings
  • Strong analytical, computer, writing and presentation skills
  • Applicants must be willing to perform all aspects of product design & test
