Purpose: To provide efficient daily workflow at deli counter; to oversee exceptional presentation of the deli counter areas; and to assist Deli Manager in meeting department goals for customer service, sales, margins and turns goals.
Customer Service:
  • Ensure excellent customer service by all staff

Product Knowledge:
  • Be proficient in all sub departments

Product Presentation and Quality:
  • Maintain a well-organized department. Oversee quality of all products.
  • Merchandise deli counter/ retail areas as needed.
  • Maintain attractive and well- stocked deli cases, rotation of product, monitor product dates and maintain proper signage
  • Contribute to positive sales growth ie; arrange sampling and daily specials

Maintenance and Conditioning:
  • Maintain cleaning schedules for deli counter
  • Plan and oversee cleaning projects
  • Maintain and monitor equipment.

Safety:
  • Ensure health department regulations are followed in all deli procedures

Teamwork:
  • Oversee daily workflow of deli counter in including but not limited to: set up, production, customer service, sales, ware washing, cleanup and closing.
  • Evaluate and give feedback for reviews of deli counter staff
  • Ensure training of new hires and ongoing training for current staff i.e.: monitor portion, shrink, and quality controls
  • Assist in development of training materials for counter staff
  • Coordinate service area needs with the Deli Kitchen Supervisor
  • Coordinate and participate in deli & store meetings
  • Assist in quarterly inventory processes
  • Maintain open communication between counter staff, commissary staff and Deli Management
  • Assign work lists, evaluate efficiencies, perform regular follow-up.

Accountability:
  • Monitor shrink
  • Utilize logbook, shrink log, transfer logs
  • Accept responsibility for own actions. Exemplify honesty, integrity and ethics.

Job Specific Functions:
  • Assist management in meeting sales, margin and turn goals
  • Order and receive products for counter operations
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Relevant supervisory experience. Self-motivated, organized, responsible, flexible
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft, Excel)
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Food safe Certification
  • Ability to work with a team to achieve departmental/ store goals
