Job Summary:
The Co Op position is in conjunction with Accredited academic institutions, that have students currently enrolled in a degree program related to the College of Engineering in Applied Science or Biomedical Engineering Technology. Students will receive cooperative education by working the required work term at St Elizabeth while earning academic credit. Responsible for providing quality, timely, and cost-effective service of clinical equipment used for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Ensure medical equipment and instrumentation used for patient care is safe, reliable, and effective through the guidance of experienced clinical engineering staff members.
Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.
Job Description:
Under the direct supervision of an experienced Biomedical Technician perform the following:
  • Perform preventative maintenance, performance verifications, electrical safety inspections, repairs, and installations on complex biomedical equipment.
  • Complete and document scheduled maintenance on medical equipment.
  • Document all service and maintenance related activities using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Conduct daily rounds throughout the hospital looking for broken equipment.
  • Requires excellent communication skills to the clinical staff and provides equipment updates.

Document service events in the C.E. database and maintain service manuals in accordance with the
Medical Equipment Management Plan.
Become familiar, and act in accordance with applicable Federal, State and Local regulations governing the repair and maintenance of medical devices.
Understand and comply with all organizational policies and procedures and operational standards to support a safe and organized work environment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited academic degree program from a College of Engineering in applied science or Biomedical Engineering Technology.

Specialized Knowledge:
  • Electronic troubleshooting techniques
  • Computer skills
