Job description

Summary:
The Precision Ag Specialist position is responsible for sales, services, and delivery of Precision Agriculture products and services for assigned region of Heartland Co-op.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Make sales and support calls throughout assigned Heartland Co-op territory. Create solutions and build long term relationships with customers and Heartland Co-op sales staff that will generate sales of Precision Ag Products and services.
  • Sell and support Heartland Co-op's precision ag programs including soil and tissue sampling, variable rate prescriptions, data analysis and Climate FieldView.
  • Position Heartland Co-op's Truterra platform with growers through marketing and selling the value of improving farm profitability through the stewardship of our natural resources. Partner with NRCS and soil and water districts to deliver opportunities and funding to our farmers.
  • Collect and populate data and provide support for the Farm Field System in a timely manner. Maintain and operate Heartland Co-op's UAV, selling and delivering imagery and data obtained from the program.
  • Develop a sales & marketing plan with the Precision Ag Department to meet company goals as well as achieve assigned sales and gross margin budgets with assigned customers.
  • Develop proposals for advertising and promotional programs and materials.
  • Communicate latest products and programs with Precision Ag Department, Region Mgrs., Location Mgrs., Account Mgrs., Sales Agronomists, Director of Seed Sales and Marketing and Regional Seed Specialists in timely manner.
  • Represent company and department at designated sales meetings, trade shows, and Precision Ag industry events, as required.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and commercial insurability at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience:
Post-secondary degree in Agriculture with strong agronomy background and two years related sales experience. Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture is preferred.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Additional statistical concepts such as correlations and summarizing are also required.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, accounting, and Precision Ag software. In addition, the ability to link pc based systems to Precision Ag hardware for firmware upgrades.
Certificates and Licenses:
Maintain a CCA certificate as well as any other appropriate certifications. Must maintain a valid driver's license and commercial insurability at all times.
