What you'll do:

Reporting to the Food Division Manager, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Glaslyn Food Store.  Your duties will include: 

  • Overseeing the full-scope of operations for the Glaslyn Food Store to maintain excellent customer experiences and drive sales. 
  • Responsible for the development  and achievement of store goals in alignment with the  Food Division business plan and corporate strategy to support sustainable business growth. Key metrics include pricing, sales, margin, expenses, productivity, and inventory.
  • Oversee Food Store alignment with Discovery Co-op brand and merchandising standards, marketing efforts, image standards, asset protection, health and safety.
  • Monitors customer satisfaction while ensuring customer issues are resolved  in a timely manner while making continuous improvements to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Provides leadership to the team in the areas of recruitment, performance management, performance appraisals, training and development of team members.
  • Promotes and ensures all company, safety, team training, environmental and regulatory policies, procedures, and programs are met, including compliance with provincial legislation.
  • Work co-operatively with other departments and suppliers.
  • Performs general duties as required to ensure smooth operations in a productive an efficient manner. This includes receiving, stocking, value added, opening and closing procedures, pricing of items and conducting price changes as required.

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Retail Management and: 

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • 3 - 5 years of supervisory/retail management experience preferably in a grocery or food retail environment.
  • Safe Food Handling Certificate or willingness to obtain upon hire.
  • Strong customer service, communication, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of commodity sales ,gross margin ,inventory management, and retail operations.
  • Proven verbal, written, organizational and communication skills; as well as strong computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook). Familiarity with Microsoft Co-Pilot is an asset.
  • A willingness to obtain Centre Store Advance (previously Grocery Advance) will be required within 6 months of hire.
  • Co-operative retail experience would be an asset. 

A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
