Job Descriptions:
Essential Function:
Join our Team as a CNC Machinist! You'll be the subject matter expert in CNC machining, capable of leading/teaching advance projects and solving high-level technical challenges. You'll play a key role in machine installations, pilot runs, and cross-functional initiatives, while serving as a technical resource for the team and supporting training efforts.
  • Set up and operate 3 to 5 axis CNC machine tools to accurately machine parts per work instructions and manufacturing plan. Startup and shutdown machines. Run a new tool setup. (e.g. thread hole, pre-drill, blind hole, guide alignment and checks, etc.).
  • Verify conformance of in-process and final products through dimensional and visual inspections using a variety of precision measuring tools and equipment, including micrometers, indicators, calipers, profilometers, Contracers, and CMMs.
  • Use proper material handling techniques to ensure quality of product and condition of equipment.
  • Maintain product specifications by performing accurate measurements, detecting malfunctions, and replacing worn tools, while consistently adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Follow and create work instructions, setup sheets and other production related information.
  • Properly document measurements and visual observations by completing production and quality logs.
  • Use tool setter and tool dresser to set tooling geometry.
  • Generate maintenance work orders for repair of CNC machines and equipment.
  • Proactively communicate with individuals and departments, coordinating with maintenance and collaborating with engineering to resolve machine downtime efficiently.
  • Perform daily and scheduled preventative maintenance. Assist maintenance with machine repair, recover crashed machines, change chuck or fixture, schedule parts to machines.
  • Set up machines for production, including chuck replacement, drill point creation/calibration, laser calibration, and necessary adjustments; rework parts as needed.
  • Provide high-level troubleshooting of internal machine mechanics when required.
  • Apply lean manufacturing concepts and 5S. Demonstrate ownership of continuous improvement ideas and activities.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of the Silfex Quality Management System and properly apply Quality Procedures and Operating Procedures as appropriate.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) is required
  • 10 years of CNC Machining experience with 3 to 5 axis CNC machining
  • Must have machine control experience
  • Understanding of input tool geometry
  • Ability to troubleshoot on an intermediate level
  • Knowledge of 5S and Lean manufacturing concepts
  • Capable of applying and teaching standard practices and techniques within their work
  • Must be fluent in G&M code
  • Attention to detail is required
  • Must be quality and safety minded
  • Must possess basic proficiency in operating computers, including navigating software and web-based platforms
  • Must have strong shop math skills, particularly trigonometry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certificate from Technical School or Trade School
  • Knowledge of GD&T
  • Maintenance experience / Collaboration with maintenance department
  • Experience machining Si, glass or other brittle material

3rd Shift: 11pm - 7am
