Job Title

Engineering Technician IIUnder limited supervision, this role requires a combination of practical technical knowledge and problem solving skills to support engineering staff. Assists in departmental projects and shares experience of operations environments to support production of technical ceramics.

Roles & Responsibilities:
May create Bill of Materials (BOM's) and/or routings, generating costing information for incoming or re-occurring orders through understanding of manufacturing processes.
May assist in the design and ordering of production tooling.
Works with engineers to improve production methods and quality of product; works individually while researching root cause analysis, scrap issues and other technical issues.
Works closely with Trade Compliance and local personnel involved in export/import activity ensuring all Company and customer confidential information and/or intellectual property are handled per Corporate Trade Compliance guidelines.
Completes continuous improvement activities through research, benchmarking and identification of improved methods or tools to increase efficiency.
Assists engineers or other technical personnel in the design of processes, products, formulations, or equipment by working on projects either independently or in a team setting as required.

Show an eagerness to learn new things that have not been attempted.
Be willing to try, test any new machining methods, processes, tooling, fixturing, machine platforms to improve profitability for the company.
Be knowledgeable at operating CNC mills, Lathes, Grinders and all types of production equipment.
Assists and/or perform in any and all areas as assigned such as Forming, Grinding, Kiln firing.

Write CNC programs using Mastercam.

Work closely with sales team, customers on manufacturing issues on new products.

Work closely with sales team and production team on quoting new products.

Work to improve the processes of existing products through reduced cycle time, improving tooling, reducing scrap, better fixturing design, work holding devices, fewer set-ups, etc...

Develop, test new types of tooling, fixturing, machining practices.

Work with tooling vendors on the design, testing of new tooling.

Have an open mind and try things that have never done before.


Education:
Requires a TCAT Degree in Machine Tool Technology or in related discipline or a High School diploma/GED and equivalent work experience
Experience:
Minimum 3 years experience in related field.
Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Self-motivated, positive detail-oriented person to be able to work well with others with minimum supervision. Have the attitude of wanting to learn something new every day and apply it.

Do whatever it takes and have a desire to finish a project quickly with the best possible results.
CAD - Prefer proficiency in drafting software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks or willing to learn...

CAM- Knowledge of Mastercam Solids Mill and Cimco CNC program editor.

Knowledge of Zeiss CMM's, profilometers, and all precision measuring tools.
Knowledge of Print reading and GD&T symbols.

Average Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint to compile reports as needed.
Detail-Oriented - Meticulously and consistently identifies, analyzes, and addresses the most intricate and nuanced aspects of tasks or projects, ensuring precision and accuracy.
Mathematical Reasoning - Perform math equations, uses decimals, fractions, and conversion ratios for adjustments, calculates values for complex parts, accurately converts between units of measure, and understands and interprets simple statistics.
Project Management - Supports project execution by following plans, managing tasks, tracking progress, ensuring quality deliverables, securing resources, and proactively communicating risks and challenges.
Technology Use - Independently operates common technology platforms, submits technology requests to the Service Center, and uses job aids and help documentation to resolve issues.
Time Management - Determines task priorities, avoids multitasking and procrastination, understands appropriate time allocation for tasks, sets boundaries to prevent overwork, and eliminates unproductive tasks.
