CNC Machinist
Location: Knoxville, TN (On-site)
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay Range: DOE
Shift
  • 2nd Shift: Monday-Thursday, 5:00 PM - 3:30 AM (4ร—10s)
  • Overtime: As needed

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, and advanced multi-axis equipment in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment. This role supports both production and engineering teams and requires strong mechanical aptitude, blueprint reading skills, and commitment to quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate advanced CNC equipment (4/5-axis mills, Swiss machines, lathes with live tooling)
  • Run multi-axis machining operations to produce complex, high-precision parts
  • Validate new setups and programs for pre-production and production runs
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections
  • Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and G/M code
  • Maintain tight tolerances and high-quality standards
  • Use precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators)
  • Make offset adjustments to ensure parts meet specifications
  • Support training and mentoring of junior machinists
  • Follow all safety and quality protocols

Basic Qualifications
  • 6+ years CNC machining experience (mills and lathes)
  • Strong understanding of machining processes: turning, milling, drilling, threading
  • Proficiency reading blueprints and technical drawings
  • Experience with G & M codes
  • Working knowledge of GD&T
  • Ability to set up vertical/horizontal machining centers and turning centers
  • Strong math and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with various materials in tight-tolerance environments
  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Clear communication skills (verbal and written)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical certification or trade school training (preferred)
  • 3+ years blueprint reading experience
  • 3+ years leadership or training experience
  • 3+ years safety compliance experience
  • Valid driver's license
