  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and program across multiple CNC controllers
  • Understanding of tool steels and pre-heat and post-heat treat processes


FULL DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a CNC Programmer to support CNC programming, machine setup, troubleshooting, and high-quality part production in a manufacturing and tooling environment. This permanent role is responsible for interpreting CAD models and blueprints, creating CNC programs, setting up machines efficiently, troubleshooting issues, supporting quality standards, and helping keep machines running while maximizing unattended run time. The ideal candidate will have strong CNC programming experience with tooling, CAD/CAM software experience, the ability to read technical drawings, strong mechanical aptitude, and experience with multiple machine centers, controllers, and programming platforms.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Interpreting CAD models, blueprints, and technical drawings
  • Creating CNC programs for machining operations
  • Setting up CNC machines efficiently for production
  • Adjusting programs and setups to ensure high-quality parts are produced
  • Troubleshooting machining, programming, setup, and quality issues as they arise
  • Supporting efficient machine operation and maximizing unattended run time
  • Maintaining attention to detail and quality control throughout programming and machining processes
  • Applying CNC machining principles and programming knowledge to tooling work
  • Using CAD and CAM software to support programming needs
  • Performing calculations related to machining as needed
  • Supporting machining operations across multiple machine centers
  • Working with tool steels and understanding pre-heat and post-heat treat processes
  • Learning and supporting graphite machining as needed
  • Maintaining equipment and supporting basic troubleshooting needs
  • Communicating project issues, updates, and questions to appropriate team members
  • Taking direction from supervisors, project managers, leadmen, and experienced team members
  • Working independently while collaborating with others to meet production and quality goals
  • Supporting a clean, safe, and organized manufacturing environment
  • Performing other duties as assigned

The selected candidate will also possess:

  • 3+ years of qualified CNC programming experience with tooling required
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining principles required
  • CNC programming language experience required
  • CAD and CAM software proficiency required
  • Cimatron experience preferred
  • WorkNC, PowerMill, or Mastercam experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings required
  • Experience programming across multiple CNC controllers preferred
  • Centurion, Toshiba, Mitsubishi, Fanuc, and Heidenhain controller experience preferred
  • Experience with machine centers such as Mitsubishi, Milltronics, Creative Evolution, Toshiba, Promac, or Hermle preferred
  • Experience with 3-axis, 5-axis, or 6-axis equipment preferred
  • Understanding of tool steels required
  • Understanding of pre-heat and post-heat treat processes required
  • Mathematical skills for machining-related calculations
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Mechanical aptitude required
  • Great communication skills
  • Ability to take direction and work well with others

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout the shift while supporting CNC programming, setup, troubleshooting, and manufacturing activities
  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, crouch, push, pull, lift, carry, and move throughout manufacturing and machining areas as needed
  • Ability to use hands and fingers for computer work, programming, machine controls, measuring tools, documentation, setup support, and standard manufacturing tasks
  • Ability to review CAD models, blueprints, technical drawings, programs, setup information, quality documentation, and computer screens for extended periods
  • Ability to work around CNC machines, tooling, materials, equipment, and manufacturing processes while following all applicable safety procedures
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, or move parts, tools, materials, or supplies as needed
  • Ability to maintain accuracy, attention to detail, and quality standards while working in a manufacturing facility
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment as required in the manufacturing environment
