Position Title: Service Technician

Department: Service

Location: Grandville, MI (Travel Required – Domestic & International)

Reports To: Service Team Leader

This is more than a maintenance or a technician job. It’s about becoming a trusted technical expert and customer advocate someone who takes pride in solving problems, getting machines running, and helping customers succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Installation and Commissioning

· Perform on-site installation of CNC router systems, including mechanical setup, electrical connections, software configuration, and calibration.

· Conduct initial machine testing and performance.

· Provide training and handover documentation to customers on proper operation and safety procedures.

2. Preventive and Corrective Maintenance

· Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks.

· Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and software-related issues.

· Document service trips and maintenance records accurately.

3. Troubleshooting and Repairs

· Analyze system faults remotely or on-site using diagnostic tools and software.

· Replace or repair faulty components, including drives, spindles, servos, control panels, ball screws, bearings, ETC...

· Coordinate with engineering or manufacturing teams to resolve complex issues.

4. Customer Support

· Provide technical support via phone, email, or remote desktop platforms.

· Offer advice and recommendations for machine upgrades, retrofits, or process optimization.

· Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction through professional communication and support.

5. Documentation and Reporting

· Complete clear, detailed service reports after every job.

· Track time, travel, labor, and parts used for every service call.

· Maintain accurate service history for each machine.

Skills & Qualifications:

· 2+ years of experience servicing CNC machinery (preferably routers or similar equipment).

· Strong knowledge of CNC controls preferable Osai, Fanuc, Siemens, ETC.

· Experience with CAD/CAM software and CNC programming is a plus.

· Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and pneumatic diagrams.

· Proficient in troubleshooting servos, drives, and HMI systems.

· Excellent communication, customer service, and time management skills.

· Willingness to travel frequently (domestic and international)

Multiax Technologies is the North American dealer and service partner for Multiax International, an Italian builder of large-format, multi-axis CNC machining centers. From our Grandville, Michigan facility we assemble, integrate, install, and service machines that run in commercial door plants and aerospace composites shops across the U.S. and Canada. We're a small, hands-on team where every builder sees a machine from bare frame to runoff — not one station on a line.
The Multiax facility includes 7,400 square feet of warehouse/showroom space where CNC machines are set up for performing customer sales discussions, training, and demos. We have a large spare parts area for organizing and shipping spare parts as needed by our customers. In addition, 1,200 square feet of office space with conference and training room.
