Summary

United CNC Machining is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support the performance, reliability, and uptime of our advanced machining equipment across two facilities.

This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing CNC machines, automation systems, and supporting equipment in a high-precision aerospace and defense manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Maintenance & Repair

  • Perform preventative maintenance on CNC machines including 5-axis mills, lathes, and horizontal machining centers
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues
  • Troubleshoot machine alarms, spindle issues, axis faults, and tool changer problems
  • Maintain coolant systems, lubrication systems, and chip management systems

Equipment & Systems Support

  • Support large-format and specialty equipment (including oversized machining centers)
  • Assist with machine installations, moves, and commissioning
  • Work with OEMs and service providers for complex repairs and upgrades
  • Maintain proper machine alignment and calibration to meet tight tolerances

Controls & Electrical

  • Troubleshoot CNC controls (Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, Mazak, etc.)
  • Diagnose electrical components including drives, motors, sensors, and PLC interfaces
  • Assist with software updates and control system maintenance

Preventative Maintenance & Documentation

  • Execute and improve preventative maintenance schedules
  • Maintain maintenance logs, service records, and documentation
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend long-term solutions
  • Support spare parts inventory and tracking

Production Support

  • Respond quickly to machine downtime to minimize disruption to production
  • Work closely with machinists, programmers, and supervisors
  • Ensure machines are running safely, efficiently, and within tolerance

Qualifications

Required:

  • 3+ years of CNC maintenance experience (5-axis preferred)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and control systems
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or machining environment
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and machine documentation
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (ITAR compliant)

Preferred:

  • Experience with aerospace/defense manufacturing
  • Familiarity with large-format or high-precision machining centers
  • Knowledge of PLC systems and industrial controls
  • OEM training or certifications (Fanuc, Siemens, Mazak, etc.)
