CNC Set-Up Operator

CompX Grayslake is a leading manufacturer of highly engineered mechanical and electromechanical locking devices, systems for world class original equipment manufacturers and
manufacture of precision instruments, throttles, marine products, and accessories.

Position Requirements:

  • Able to work 3rd shift.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to understand part specifications.
  • Monitor machine operation during production runs, identifying and addressing potential issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control.
  • Conduct in-process inspections using precision measuring tools to ensure part quality meets specifications.
  • Make adjustments to machine settings as necessary to maintain consistent quality.
  • Document production data and maintain quality control records.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures when operating CNC machines.
  • Knowledge of CNC programming languages (G-code, M-code).
  • Experience with various CNC machine types (mills, lathes, etc.)
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining processes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems.
  • Familiarity with DMG Mori Lathes and Mills a plus.

Minimum Skills, Knowledge and Ability Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, Certification or Associate’s Degree
  • Frequently able to lift or move up to 35lbs.
  • Frequent standing and walking throughout the workday.
  • Frequent use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel material.
  • Overtime may be required, including weekends when necessary.
