Job description

CNC Mill Operator
Location: Novi, Michigan

Shift Information: Night Shift 4:00 PM โ€“ 2:30 AM

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced CNC Mill Operator to join our night shift team in a precision manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience operating large milling and boring machines, is comfortable working independently, and takes pride in producing high-quality work that meets tight tolerances and finish requirements. If you're a skilled machinist who knows your way around M & G code and can read a blueprint with confidence, we want to talk.

What You'll Do

  • Set up, check, and operate CNC vertical or horizontal milling machines to perform standard and repetitive machining sequences
  • Mount and secure tooling in magazines or turrets; align and secure fixtures and workpieces to establish reference points
  • Select, measure, assemble, and set machine tooling including drill bits, milling tools, and cutting tools using precision gauges and instruments
  • Perform controller programming at the machine using M & G code, including positioning tools across X, Y, and Z coordinates
  • Read and interpret blueprints and standard operating procedures to determine specifications, dimensions, and machine operations
  • Measure finished workpieces using precision instruments, templates, and fixtures to ensure conformance to specifications
  • Monitor machine operation and control panel displays to detect malfunctions and compare readings to specifications
  • Maintain machines by removing and replacing broken or worn tooling using hand tools
  • Clean machines, tooling, and parts regularly
  • Report daily production output and any non-conformances
  • Participate in continuous improvement processes and activities

Safety & Compliance

All operators are expected to follow EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) rules on the factory floor, including:

  • Identifying and reporting unsafe acts and conditions
  • Proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times
  • Familiarity with and readiness to execute the facility emergency plan

What We're Looking For

  • 4+ years of CNC milling experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a grind room within an industrial or manufacturing setting
  • Experience operating large boring machines strongly preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints using both imperial and metric systems
  • Proficient math skills and strong problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work independently with written and verbal direction
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training preferred
