Job description

Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer & CNC Programmer (Aerospace & Industrial)
Role Overview
We are seeking a high-level Senior CNC Programmer to lead technical production support and process optimization for high-precision aerospace and industrial gas turbine components. This role is a blend of advanced manufacturing engineering and hands-on CNC programming, focusing on New Product Introduction (NPI) and complex repairs. You will be responsible for creating 5-axis milling and turning programs direct from CAD models, proving them out on the shop floor, and validating results through first-article prototypes. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert in machining "super-alloys" and is capable of leading moderate-scope projects to improve tool life, precision, and overall operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
• Advanced Programming: Create and optimize CNC programs for 3, 4, and 5-axis mills and multi-tasking centers using Siemens NX and/or GibbsCAM.
• CAD/CAM Integration: Develop 3D models from blueprints for use in programming and design custom fixtures and specialized tooling to support new processes.
• Shop Floor Validation: Download and "prove out" programs on the machine (Fanuc/Siemens controls); troubleshoot machining discrepancies and support the generation of "first-article" prototypes.
• Process Optimization: Revise existing programs to reduce cycle times and extend tool life for challenging materials like Nickel, Titanium, and Stainless Steel.
• Metrology & Inspection: Conduct inspections and modeling using CMM, laser scanning, and GD&T interpretation to ensure compliance with aerospace manufacturing specifications.
• Technical Leadership: Lead moderate-scope project teams, train junior technical staff, and collaborate with cross-functional peers to implement Lean/Continuous Improvement solutions.
• Documentation: Create internal standard operating procedures for shop personnel and maintain version control systems for approved machining programs.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Education: A.A.S. in Machining/Machine Tool Technology or B.S. in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering.
• Professional Experience:
o7-12 years of experience in the Aerospace or Power Generation industry.
oExpertise in Siemens NX (5-axis milling) and GibbsCAM (turning).
• Technical Mastery:
oDeep knowledge of GD&T, macro programming, and on-machine probing.
oSpecialized experience machining Nickel-based super-alloys and Titanium.
oFamiliarity with turbine/compressor component manufacturing (castings, forgings, etc.).
• Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Project) and 3D CAD modeling.
• Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to navigate matrixed organizational structures and drive ownership of project goals.
