The IPG Systems Test Engineer will test, install and run laser-based systems according to engineering instructions and technical manuals. The Systems Test Engineer will be responsible for the troubleshooting and testing of laser workstations including their electrical, mechanical, motion, optical, software and laser sub systems. They will setup and operate laser workstations to meet both machine as well as laser process specifications. Works closely with Production, Applications, Engineering, Sales and Customers through final system acceptance and training with end customers.
Duties
  • Test and troubleshoot full range of machine technical sub systems including electrical, mechanical, motion, optical, software and laser systems
  • Identify and solve machine hardware and software issues. Work with Production, Applications and Engineering teams on continuous improvement of the laser workstations including hardware, software and laser process optimization
  • Setup, characterize and optimize laser workstations and laser process applications such as cutting, drilling and welding according to specifications
  • Write reports detailing system test data, as well as laser processes parameters and sample results

  • AS or BS Engineering degree preferred
  • Previous laser systems and industrial laser applications experience is preferred
  • Strong software background preferred
  • Previous CAD/CAM, CNC or robotic systems experience is preferred
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions and schematics
  • Data entry skills needed
  • Strong communication skills required for interaction within various groups
  • Work independently or as a team
  • Set up experiments and able to record data or measurements
  • Document all work with care and precision
