Job description

Kimball Equipment Company, a leader in the aggregate mining and supply industry since 1946, is actively recruiting for the position of CNC Machinist / Mazatrol Programmer in our Salt Lake City, Utah location. Kimball Equipment Company is a successful dealer for brands such as Terex Cedarapids, Terex Finlay, and Superior Industries.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for programming, setting up, and operating a Mazak Integrex E1850V 12 Smooth X CNC multi-tasking machine using Mazatrol controls. This individual must supervise their own work, requiring positive and direct communication with fellow employees and management.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T requirements to manufacture precision components to tight tolerances and quality standards. Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, speeds, and feeds for each job.
  • Perform first-article inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.). Monitor machine performance and adjust programs or tooling as needed to maintain production efficiency. Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and program issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to meet deadlines and ensure a high quality of work that is up to company standards. Accurately track and record time between various parts and tasks. Keep organized job and procedure reports.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and ensure adherence to all safety standards and procedures. Take proactive steps to keep consumables inventory at appropriate levels.

General Skill Requisites

  • Proven experience programming and operating Mazak CNC machines using Mazatrol.
  • Ability to independently perform full setups and run jobs from print to finished part.
  • Ability to operate forklift and overhead crane, including general understanding of rigging to lift and manipulate large heavy parts safely.
  • Strong blueprint reading skills, including GD&T interpretation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to know when to ask for help to efficiently resolve any problems.
  • Good, safe work habits.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with Mazak Integrex machines, especially large-format equipment.
  • Experience with multi-axis machining (preferably 5-axis or mill-turn equipment).
  • Familiarity with EIA/G-code programming in addition to Mazatrol.
  • Background in heavy equipment, aggregate, mining, or related industries.
  • Working Conditions
  • Warehouse/shop environment, typically stationed at the machine all day.
  • 8-10 hour days, Monday through Friday, would be typical.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift objects around 50lbs.
  • Must be able to access machine, and parts inside the machine, safely – these are very large parts and a very large machine – expected to be physically capable of working in this environment.
