CNC Operator Assistant
Summary of Position
The CNC Helper is responsible for assisting operators for production of metallic machined parts per the specifications and requirements of the shop traveler. The CNC Helper is also responsible for error-free processing of each order, and for completing the necessary paperwork and computer data entries associated with the CNC Production Process.
Responsibilities and Duties
At a minimum, the following is a basic description of typical duties and responsibilities expected of the CNC Helper. These duties are not exhaustive and are subject to change as the needs of the organization require.
  • Assist, maintain, clean, setup, load, and unload the CNC Router
    • Effectively and efficiently assist with all aspects of the production process
    • Receive and verify orders from Production Planner
    • Allocate, pull, and load material
    • Learn to Set up machines and or/have tooling ready for the Operator
    • Inspect products
    • Clean, label, and stage finished parts
    • Offload scrap or stock and return any materials as needed
    • Process job though the system and maintain an organized, clean work area
    • Verify quality to ensure the product meets the customer’s specifications
  • Regularly clean and maintain equipment and machinery
  • Understand Sunshine Metals’ objectives and mission
  • Practice a willingness to learn production and distribution methodology
  • Adhere to all Sunshine Metals’ safety rules, regulations, quality standards and procedures
  • Keep immediate work area clean and organized throughout the day
  • Cross-train other team members as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Driver’s license
  • 6-12 months of CNC operating experience
  • Beginner or Intermediate CNC operation experience
  • Proficient reading and math skills
  • Good organizational, problem solving, and time management skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Computer skills
  • Ability to measure using different tools
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction
  • Strong work ethic; initiative-taking
  • Operate with high integrity, maintaining positive relations with co-workers, customers, and suppliers
Preferred Qualifications
  • Coursework in metalworking, blueprint reading, drafting and math
  • Some machine operating experience
  • 6 months + of CNC router operation experience
  • Mastercam experience is a huge plus
