Work EnvironmentUnder supervision, learning patient carePerforms patient care independently

The main difference is that a CNA In Training is in the process of learning and gaining experience, often without certification, while a Certified Nursing Assistant has completed training and holds certification to work independently in healthcare settings.

What is the highest paid CNA job?

The highest paid CNA jobs are typically in specialized settings such as long-term care facilities, hospitals, or home health agencies, where CNAs with additional certifications or experience can earn higher wages. Advanced roles like Certified Medication Aide or working in regions with higher living costs may also offer increased pay for CNAs in training or experienced CNAs.

Can you work as a CNA while taking classes?

Yes, many CNAs in training work part-time or on a flexible schedule while completing their coursework. Employers often accommodate students by offering evening or weekend shifts, and some states require CNAs to be certified within a certain timeframe after starting work. Balancing work and classes can help gain practical experience but requires good time management.

What other jobs can I do as a CNA?

As a CNA in training, you can often transition into roles such as medical assistant, patient care technician, or home health aide, which utilize similar skills in patient care and basic medical procedures. Additional opportunities include nursing assistant positions, medication aide roles, or roles in assisted living facilities, often requiring relevant certifications or experience. These jobs typically involve direct patient interaction and may require knowledge of medical terminology and basic healthcare tools.

Do you get paid for training as a CNA?

CNA in Training programs typically do not pay trainees; they are often unpaid or may receive a small stipend. However, some training programs or employer-sponsored courses may offer paid training or reimbursement once certification is achieved. It is important to check specific program details and state regulations regarding compensation during CNA training.
