What is the difference between Cna In Training vs Certified Nursing Assistant?

AspectCNA In TrainingCertified Nursing Assistant
CertificationsTypically no certification; in training phaseRequires certification after completing training
Work EnvironmentUnder supervision, learning patient carePerforms patient care independently
Employer UsageTraining programs, clinical rotationsFull employment as a CNA

The main difference is that a CNA In Training is in the process of learning and gaining experience, often without certification, while a Certified Nursing Assistant has completed training and holds certification to work independently in healthcare settings.

What is the highest paid CNA job?

The highest paid CNA jobs are typically in specialized settings such as long-term care facilities, hospitals, or home health agencies, where CNAs with additional certifications or experience can earn higher wages. Advanced roles like Certified Medication Aide or working in regions with higher living costs may also offer increased pay for CNAs in training or experienced CNAs.

Can you work as a CNA while taking classes?

Yes, many CNAs in training work part-time or on a flexible schedule while completing their coursework. Employers often accommodate students by offering evening or weekend shifts, and some states require CNAs to be certified within a certain timeframe after starting work. Balancing work and classes can help gain practical experience but requires good time management.

What other jobs can I do as a CNA?

As a CNA in training, you can often transition into roles such as medical assistant, patient care technician, or home health aide, which utilize similar skills in patient care and basic medical procedures. Additional opportunities include nursing assistant positions, medication aide roles, or roles in assisted living facilities, often requiring relevant certifications or experience. These jobs typically involve direct patient interaction and may require knowledge of medical terminology and basic healthcare tools.

Do you get paid for training as a CNA?

CNA in Training programs typically do not pay trainees; they are often unpaid or may receive a small stipend. However, some training programs or employer-sponsored courses may offer paid training or reimbursement once certification is achieved. It is important to check specific program details and state regulations regarding compensation during CNA training.

Start your healthcare career with us and train to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at no cost to you. Working with us means being part of something special โ€” a team that shows up every day with purpose and passion.

Unlike a typical hospital setting, our long-term care and rehabilitation environment allows you to walk alongside residents on their road to recovery, build meaningful relationships, and celebrate real progress and independence along the way.

If you're caring, motivated, and ready to learn, we'll provide the training and support to help you grow.

Position Overview: Nurse Aide in Training (CNA Program)

As a Nurse Aide in Training, you'll work closely with experienced RNs and LPNs who will mentor you on the job while preparing you to take the CNA certification exam. Nursing Assistants are key members of our care team and play a vital role in ensuring resident comfort, dignity, and safety.

This is a paid training opportunity that leads to CNA certification and an hourly wage increase upon successful completion.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Assist residents with comfort and basic daily needs under the supervision of licensed nursing staff
  2. Support RNs and LPNs in delivering high-quality, compassionate care

  4. Build relationships with residents and contribute to a positive, supportive environment
  5. Participate in training designed to prepare you for the CNA certification exam
Qualifications / Requirements:
  1. Basic patient care competency skills (training provided)
  2. Compassionate, dependable, and eager to learn
  3. Ability to work as part of a team
  4. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the role
  5. No prior CNA certification required
Benefits (for Full-Time Employees):

  2. Dental insurance
  3. 401(k) retirement plan with company match
  4. Paid time off (PTO)
  5. Paid holidays
  6. Very attractive employee referral bonus plan
  7. Paid CNA training at no cost to you
  8. Hourly pay increase after CNA certification
Why Join Us?
