CMTA, a Legence company, is looking for an experienced Engineer to help expand our reach in new markets. The Energy Solutions division of CMTA is the fastest growing division of our large and growing company. The successful candidate is typically a self-motivated individual that thrives on helping clients and has the technical background to be involved and lead all phases of our work. Although this position is for the performance contracting division of our company, we have found that engineers with strong backgrounds in HVAC design and commissioning can easily make the transition to become a valuable team member within our Energy Solutions group.

The Senior Engineer leads all aspects of performance contracts for our clients, from conception to completion, and serves as the primary point of contact throughout all phases. In addition to technical leadership, this role plays a key part in identifying new opportunities, nurturing client relationships, and contributing to CMTA’s business growth. Below are some of the duties included:

  • Introduce and explain performance contracting to potential clients, identifying opportunities where CMTA’s solutions can provide long-term value.
  • Articulate how and why CMTA is unique in our approach to performance contracting, reinforcing our value proposition in both technical and financial terms.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to foster repeat business, referrals, and long-term partnerships.
  • Participate in business development efforts including client meetings, industry events, and proposal development.
  • Lead the development phase including site visits, audits, and energy calculations.
  • Direct the engineering design team in producing drawings and specifications.
  • Direct the bidding process to ensure quality and competitive outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the client to finalize the performance contract.
  • Work with the construction manager to ensure a smooth construction period.
  • Direct the commissioning process to validate performance.
  • Support the client through the warranty phase as needed.
  • Work with our Measurement & Verification (M&V) professional to develop the first-year M&V report.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of state specific K-12 design-build procurement processes, ensuring alignment with state and district requirements.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with an Energy Services company OR a consulting engineering/commissioning firm.
  • Must have undergrad degree in engineering from ABET accredited university.

Base Salary Range: Fairfax VA, MA, MD & CA - $115,00 -$150,000. This role is also eligible for an annual performance‑based bonus. Bonus eligibility and payout are determined by role, individual performance, and company performance, and are not guaranteed.
