Expectations:
Responsibilities
1. Direct supervision of resident medicine teams in the overall care and treatment of the patient.
2. Provide timely and complete documentation as outlined by CMS Teaching Physician Documentation requirements.
3. Provide didactic and hands-on training of the trainee in terms of diagnosis, physical examination, interpretation of tests, procedures and proper documentation.
4. Attend Morning Report, Journal Club, Case Conference, and Grand Rounds.
5. Report directly to Program Director.
6. Teach Medical Student rotating on the House Services.
7. Participate in scholarly activities including research endeavors, quality improvement projects, or medical staff/hospital committee participation.
8. Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Inpatient Medicine Attending
b. Role of Inpatient Attending: (6 months)
i. Inpatient Attending must be an ABIM board-certified internist/subspecialist
ii. Active member of Huntington Hospital Medical Staff in good standing
iii. Clinically active in the direct patient care and in supervision of patient care on house service.
Responsibilities
i. Direct supervision of resident medicine teams in the overall care and treatment of the patient.
ii. Provide timely and complete documentation as outlined by CMS Teaching Physician Documentation requirements
iii. Provide didactic and hands-on training of the trainee in terms of diagnosis, physical examination, interpretation of tests, procedures and proper documentation
iv. Attend Morning Report, Mortality & Morbidity, Case Conference, and Grand Rounds
v. Report directly to Program Director
vi. Oversee and teach transitions of care
Outpatient Medicine Attending (Average Half Day Per Week)
i. Direct supervision of resident medicine residents in the overall care and treatment of the patient.
ii. Provide timely and complete documentation as outlined by CMS Teaching Physician Documentation requirements.
iii. Provide didactic and hands-on training of the trainee in terms of diagnosis, physical examination, interpretation of tests, coordination of care, procedures and proper documentation.
iv. Participate in didactic teaching in the outpatient setting.
v. Report directly to Outpatient Director
Internal Medicine Core Faculty Responsibilities
i. Available for residency recruitment including interviews and selection committee.
ii. Participation in mentorship of the residents
iii. Assist in monitoring resident stress, including mental or emotional conditions inhibiting performance or learning and identifying substance-related dysfunction.
iv. Participate on the Internal Medicine Clinical Competency Committee.
v. Knowledgeable in the current issues and problems of residency program
vi. Assist in the nurturing of the scholar, scientist, teacher, and humanist in the residents.
vii. Contribute to the medical center through alignment with hospital wide goals and tactics.
