Job Description:
Dobbs Defense Solutions is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Frontend Developer to support a large-scale digital modernization and CMS transformation initiative. The ideal candidate will be responsible for frontend implementation across Drupal theming, MDWDS components, page templates, accessibility remediation, and responsive user experience development throughout the discovery, build, migration, and launch phases of the project. This role requires strong frontend development expertise, experience with enterprise CMS platforms, and a strong understanding of accessibility and design system implementation within public-sector environments.
Duties:
  • Build and implement Drupal themes and page templates using MDWDS components and best practices.
  • Develop reusable frontend components to support enterprise-wide content and page consistency.
  • Build and validate Drupal mockups, navigation components, and template structures during discovery and UX phases.
  • Support UI feasibility reviews and provide recommendations related to frontend implementation and component reuse.
  • Perform manual page builds and frontend migration activities during content migration efforts.
  • Migrate legacy frontend components into modernized Drupal templates and layouts.
  • Implement accessibility remediation and WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance fixes across templates and UI components.
  • Support responsive and cross-browser compatible frontend development practices.
  • Implement frontend redirect handling logic and support launch readiness activities.
  • Resolve UI/UX defects identified during QA, accessibility testing, and user acceptance testing.
  • Support accessibility validation using tools such as axe, Lighthouse, and WAVE.
  • Document frontend components, templates, and governance standards.
  • Provide hyper-care production support, bug fixes, and content adjustments post-launch.
  • Collaborate closely with UX designers, backend developers, content strategists, and project stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 4+ years of frontend development experience.
  • Strong experience with Drupal theming using Twig.
  • Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and responsive web development.
  • Experience implementing design systems such as MDWDS, USWDS, or equivalent frameworks.
  • Experience supporting WCAG 2.1 Level AA and Section 508 accessibility compliance.
  • Experience supporting enterprise CMS modernization or large-scale content migration initiatives.
  • Experience supporting accessibility audits in state, federal, or regulated environments preferred.
  • Acquia Certified Frontend Specialist certification preferred.

Salary Range:
